What you say

The Gredos Mountains are Spain's hidden treasure with an astonishing diversity of wildlife for those willing to walk along spring-fed streams, winding country paths, and ancient ruins! Your itinerary and expert guiding services enabled us to maximize our bird list and at the same time enjoy the rural culture of Navacepeda. We can honestly say that you are one of our most favourite guides!

Birdwatching

The pre-trip publicity promised a personalized tour exploring the diverse regions and nature of the north and south of the Sierra de Gredos and the national park of Monfragüe. Claire delivered this and more. The 121 species that we saw in our six days included golden oriole, a huge selection of raptors- including the rare Spanish Imperial Eagle- hoopoes, bee-eaters, bluethroat, grey, purple and night herons as well as little bittern and three types of egret. We were welcomed into comfortable village hotels and experienced delicious Spanish food and wines, with a picnic, or visit to a restaurant at lunchtime. Claire had time for everyone and willingly shared her vast knowledge of the area and its wildlife, quickly becoming a friend to all.

Our success in seeing almost all of the many birds Claire had hoped we might find was impressive (memorably including bustard and hoopoe). So, too, was her readiness to provide support and encouragement to the more ornithologically challenged (me) as well as sharing her expert knowledge of the birdlife and natural history of the beautiful Gredos region with more experienced members of the group. At a pace determined by the group, each day's activity ended with the simple comforts of country hotels. This was a truly stimulating and wholly pleasurable experience which can be thoroughly recommended.

To holiday with an intuitive naturalist with such a fine knowledge of her subject, and the terraine, made our tour a truly memorable experience.  Claire's enthusiasm was infectious and this was coupled with a subtle grasp of English which allowed us to enjoy her warmth and humour too.  We could not fault the arrangements and shall return for more...
