Birding in Spain, in the Gredos, will give you a chance to see singular and mountain bird species such as bluethroat, ortolan bunting, citril finch, water pipit, tawny pipit, red-billed chough, cross-bills, firecrests, rock thrushes and numerous raptors. Birds of prey to spot while birding in the Gredos are golden eagle, goshawk, sparrow hawk, short-toed eagle, booted eagle, black and red kites, honey buzzard, peregrine falcon, hobby, black vulture, griffon vulture and Egyptian vulture etc, as well as imperial eagle, Bonelli’s eagle and black shouldered-kite in adjacent areas. Black stork can be seen in the nearby Tietar Valley, near Arenas de San Pedro. Birding tours will be led by Claire Graham.
Claire graduated in biology in the U.K. She is completely fluent in English, Spanish, and French, having grown up in Spain and lived in several countries. Our success in the birdwatching tours in Spain is seeing almost all of the many birds Claire had hoped we might find was impressive (memorably including bustard and hoopoe).
So, too, was her readiness to provide support and encouragement to the more ornithologically challenged (me) as well as sharing her expert knowledge of the birding in Spain, birdlife and natural history of the beautiful Gredos region with more experienced members of the group. At a pace determined by the group, each day\'s birding in Spain activity ended with the simple comforts of country hotels. This was a truly stimulating and wholly pleasurable birding in Spain experience which can be thoroughly recommende.
